The team at moderndirectseller.com is looking for a junior WordPress web designer to help with our internal and external web projects.
Our mission is to provide practical training and systems to empower Modern Direct Sellers and direct sales companies to reach their big goals and find success in direct sales. We support direct sellers through our signature membership, the Modern Direct Seller Academy, and a monthly subscription box, the Modern Direct Seller Box. We also serve direct sales companies by licensing our training content and software suite built on WordPress.
We are growing quickly and are looking for a junior web designer to grow with us! If you’re a go-getter, resourceful, enjoy taking a project with minimal direction and running with it and like working on a variety of projects we want to talk to you!
As a junior web designer with moderndirectseller.com you will:
- Design and implement new content and existing content updates on our own site
Perform quarterly maintenance on client sites (mostly simple, blog-type sites) - Troubleshoot issues and support client questions
Research and evaluate plugins to add new functionality - Work closely with the co-owner (and project manager) to define and understand project requirements
- Work closely with our copywriter and graphic designer to gather content
- Generate user documentation and how-to videos for both internal and external training
- Work closely with our Sr. Web Developer to test and validate new features and bug fixes for our direct sales back office and learning management system (custom WordPress theme) and also our ohmyhi.com platform
- Recommend improvements to our sites to improve the customer experience and help the business run smoother
Because we want you to be able to jump in and contribute right away we have some requirements for this position:
- 2+ years designing WordPress websites
Proficient with Elegant Themes Divi Theme and WooCommerce plugin - Proficient with HTML and CSS
Design expertise and the ability to create layouts for landing pages, blog posts, etc.
General IT knowledge – We use Google Workspace, ClickUp and MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint - A problem solver that’s able to run with minimal direction and figure out how to get things done
Highly organized with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both verbal and written)
We also have some desired skills that would allow you to work on more projects right away. These skills aren’t required, but are a bonus:
- Familiarity with Elementor, Oxygen Builder, LifterLMS and AffiliateWP
- Experience with Javascript and PHP
- Experience customizing themes and plugins
- Experience with GitHub for version control
- SEO experience and generating and optimizing content for search
- Ability to make simple graphics (or modify existing graphics) using Canva
- Light video editing skills (trim, add an intro/outro)

This is a remote, part-time contract position (for now!) with room to grow. To start it will be 5-10 hours per week with surges here and there when things get busy. No agencies, please.
We are located in San Diego, CA and primarily work between 8AM and 2PM Pacific Monday thru Friday. When you choose to work is flexible, but you need to have a couple hours of availability during our normal work time to support meetings, reviews, etc.
