Work + Life Harmony: Balancing Business & Family Without Burnout

Ever feel like you’re juggling all the things—business, family, marriage, and maybe even a second business on the side? You’re not alone! In this episode of the Modern Direct Seller Podcast, we’re doing something a little different. I’m handing over the mic (kind of!) and sharing a conversation I had over on Megan Sumrell’s Work + Life Harmony podcast.

Spoiler alert: It’s a real and honest look behind the scenes of what my day-to-day looks like—plus some juicy insights into what it’s like working with my husband, running two businesses, and setting boundaries to actually prevent burnout.

Boundaries That Work (Most of the Time)

Let’s get real—my boundaries didn’t always exist. When my kids were little and I was building my first business, I was in hustle mode 24/7. But over the years, I’ve learned that burnout isn’t a badge of honor. These days, my work hours are intentionally set from 9 AM to 2 PM, Monday through Friday. That’s when the kids are at school, and I can be laser-focused.

After 2 PM? I’m off the clock (well, mostly). We’ve got sports practices, school pick-ups, and all the usual after-school chaos. And honestly, unless something absolutely has to get done, I’m not sitting back down at my desk after dinner. I’ve even created physical boundaries by having my office in a separate space—because sometimes, you just need a stairwell to remind you it’s time to shut it down.

Yes, I Work With My Husband (and We’re Still Married!)

Jeremy and I have worked together full-time since 2020, and while we share an office (literally, side by side!), we stay in our lanes. He handles finance, legal, operations, and tech. I focus on sales, marketing, and content. We have one joint meeting each week, and we check in regularly through our systems—ClickUp is our go-to.

Do we love working together? Totally. But the secret (oops, I mean the strategy) is clear boundaries, clear roles, and staying out of each other’s to-do lists unless invited.

Oh My Hi: The Business Built With Our Community

One of the most exciting parts of this conversation was diving into our newest venture: Oh My Hi—an all-in-one platform for websites, email marketing, and CRM. It’s built for non-techie entrepreneurs who just want to launch a gorgeous, functional website without pulling their hair out.

We started with templates, live support, and hands-on help. But what makes it really special is how we’re building it with our community. If someone asks for a feature, we build it. If something’s confusing, we change it. It’s collaborative, it’s evolving every week, and it’s been a blast to bring to life.

Whether you’re a direct seller, author, health coach, or just ready to finally launch your thing into the world—Oh My Hi was made for you. You don’t have to piece together 14 different tools, learn to code, or break the bank on web design.

Final Thoughts: Harmony Over Hustle

Building a business doesn’t mean sacrificing your life. You can grow something meaningful, work with your spouse, raise a family, and even start a second business—without running yourself into the ground.

Is it always perfect? Nope. But it’s intentional. It’s evolving. And most importantly, it’s yours.
