How We Work Together: A Behind-the-Scenes Look with Jeremy and Becky Launder
Ever wondered how we manage to blend our personal and professional lives while keeping everything running smoothly? Here’s a peek into how Jeremy and I work together, juggle responsibilities, and maintain harmony in both our business and family life.
Getting Cozy and Working Together
Working together as life partners can be challenging, but it also has its unique perks. We started by sharing a small workspace, sometimes shoulder-to-shoulder, navigating the ins and outs of our business. It wasn’t always perfect, with technical glitches and adjustments, but we’ve learned and grown together.
Our Journey
Our journey began in 2017, offering online courses and group coaching. At the time, Jeremy was working in the defense industry as an electrical engineer, supporting our business during nights and weekends. We always had a vision of him joining the business full-time, which finally happened in 2020 during the pandemic. It was a significant leap of faith, but it paid off, and we’ve been growing ever since.
Balancing Roles and Responsibilities
One of the keys to our success is understanding and respecting each other’s strengths. Jeremy handles the tech side of things—web development, software, and email systems—while I focus on content creation, sales, marketing, and client delivery. This division allows us to play to our strengths and keep things running smoothly.
Balancing work and family life is crucial. With two active kids, Makenzie and Cody, our schedule is well-structured. During the school year, our core working hours are from 8 AM to 2:15 PM, allowing us to focus on work while the kids are at school. Summertime is a bit more chaotic, but we adapt and find ways to make it work.
Creating a Work-Life Balance
Having a dedicated office space has been a game-changer for us. It helps maintain a clear boundary between work and home life. We strive to avoid working in the evenings, although late-night projects do happen from time to time.
One of the best parts of working together is the ability to collaborate and support each other. We’ve set boundaries to ensure our relationship remains strong—like not discussing business in the bedroom and having only one formal meeting per week.
Daily Interactions
Despite working in the same space, our daily interactions are minimal. Jeremy is usually immersed in tech tasks with his headphones on, while I’m busy with calls and content creation. It’s almost like working with any other colleague, except we get to end the day together.
Looking Ahead
We’re excited about the future. We have a workshop at the end of August where we’ll discuss the evolving direct sales industry, share behind-the-scenes insights, and explore essential digital marketing tools and skills for 2025.
Jeremy is also working on Oh My Hi, a website builder designed to help people easily create their online presence. With our new operations manager, Joanna, Jeremy has more time to focus on this exciting project.
