Unleashing the Power of a Website in Your Direct Sales Business

Hey there! Today, I want to dive into something that can truly transform your direct sales business: Having a website. I know, I know—this might sound a bit intimidating, but trust me, it’s a total game changer for long-term success.

My Journey in Direct Sales
Let’s rewind a bit. I started my direct sales journey while still working in the corporate world, and I quickly discovered the potential of this industry. I was fortunate to have one of the fastest-growing teams in my company and earned accolades like Team Leader of the Year—twice! But here’s the thing: My success didn’t come from just doing parties and events. It was my approach to integrating digital marketing that really made a difference.

In those early days, nobody was talking about the importance of websites, email lists, or lead magnets. I knew I had to get ahead of the curve. While I did my fair share of parties, I wasn’t a fan of them. I wanted to connect with my audience in a way that worked smarter, not harder.

The Birth of My Website

I realized that to build a sustainable business, I needed a website. This platform would allow me to attract leads and share content even when I was busy with my family. So, I hired a web designer and launched BeckysBookCorner.com. This site became my business hub, featuring freebies, opt-ins, monthly subscriptions, and a blog. Whenever a team member asked a question more than once, I created content to address it.

Sure, my early videos were a bit cringeworthy, but everyone starts somewhere! This dual-website approach really boosted my personal brand and connected me with customers and potential teammates across the country.

Sharing My Knowledge

One of the first courses Jeremy and I created was called Launch Your Website in a Weekend. Many people on my team wanted to know how I was achieving such rapid growth, so we decided to share our knowledge. We built our website on WordPress, which had its challenges, but it laid the foundation for our future endeavors.

When I partnered with another brand, my first action was to create a website for that business. It was a fantastic project, but compliance had other ideas. My website was deemed “too good” and had to be taken down due to complaints. It was a learning moment for sure!

Evolving the Business Model

As my career shifted toward training rather than direct sales, I continued to see the impact of websites in our industry. I was working with a direct sales company whose salespeople had websites to sell their products, and let me tell you, many of them needed serious help. That’s when the idea for Oh My Hi emerged—a fill-in-the-blank template designed to simplify the website creation process for direct sellers.

As our user base grew, we realized that more features were needed, and about a year ago, we added a blog feature. This was a fantastic evolution, allowing users to share their stories and connect with their audience more effectively.

The Importance of a Website

If you’re not utilizing a website in your business yet, I cannot stress enough how essential it is! A website allows you to attract leads, connect with your audience, and showcase your personal brand and expertise. It’s an opportunity to engage with potential customers while you focus on other aspects of your life.

Your Next Steps

I want to challenge you today: If you don’t have a website yet, take some time to think about what you want it to look like. Jot down your goals, what you want to share, and how you envision connecting with your audience. Remember, even if you’re starting small, you can create a simple website that grows with you. And, if you’re looking for a simple, easy-to-use platform, consider joining the Oh My Hi waitlist!
