Building Trust, Transparency, and a Cleaner Future with Pure Haven’s CEO Miranda Inglis

On the Modern Direct Seller Podcast, we recently had the pleasure of hosting Miranda Inglis, the CEO of Pure Haven. From her personal journey to her leadership role, Miranda shared her inspiring story, the mission behind Pure Haven, and why transparency and education are at the core of her company’s success.

Miranda’s Journey: From Engineer to Non-Tox Advocate
Miranda’s path to becoming the CEO of Pure Haven began with a personal health journey. Diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) at a young age, she faced challenges with her health, weight, and fertility. Her experiences inspired her to explore how products she used—both inside and out—impacted her body. When her first child, Nash, was born with multiple allergies, Miranda began scrutinizing ingredient labels and discovered the harmful effects of toxins in everyday personal care products.

Initially making her own products, Miranda eventually stumbled upon Pure Haven through a search for a non-toxic shampoo. Despite initial skepticism about direct sales, she fell in love with the products and their mission. Over time, Miranda moved from being a consultant to the CEO, leveraging her background in engineering and manufacturing to shape Pure Haven’s commitment to quality and transparency.

Understanding Toxins in Personal Care Products
The personal care industry has long operated with minimal regulation. Miranda highlighted the 1938 Cosmetics Act, which exempted products like shampoos and lotions from FDA oversight. As a result, harmful chemicals like carcinogens and endocrine disruptors have made their way into products used daily. Three major issues in the industry include:

  • Lack of Regulation: Even recent reforms like the MoCRA Act of 2023 only required manufacturers to register with the FDA, falling short of banning toxins.
  • Byproduct Use: Many ingredients in personal care products are byproducts of other industries, such as petroleum or pharmaceuticals, which are often sold cheaply and used without thorough safety testing.
  • Marketing Misrepresentation: The industry has often underestimated women’s desire for safe and effective products, perpetuating the use of misleading labels like “natural fragrance” to hide harmful ingredients.

The Pure Haven Difference
Pure Haven’s manufacturing process stands out for its transparency and rigor. Unlike many companies that outsource production, Pure Haven manufactures its products in-house, ensuring complete control over ingredient sourcing and formulation.

  • Ingredient Transparency: Vendors must disclose all sub-ingredients and sign affidavits to verify their claims.
  • Advanced Testing: Products are tested for contaminants like heavy metals and PFAS (forever chemicals) at every stage of production.
  • Consumer Peace of Mind: Pure Haven’s ultimate goal is to offer products consumers can trust without needing to decipher complicated labels.

Why Direct Sales Works
Direct sales is a powerful channel for Pure Haven, particularly because their products often require education and explanation. Miranda emphasized the importance of authentic connections, noting that people buy from those they trust. Consultants play a vital role in sharing the story and science behind Pure Haven’s products, making the purchasing decision more than just about picking a pretty label.

What’s Next for Pure Haven?
Despite challenges in the direct sales and personal care industries, Pure Haven continues to grow. According to Miranda, the company has exceeded projections and remains committed to supporting its consultants and customers. Their focus on innovation, education, and staying true to their mission ensures that Pure Haven is not just another personal care brand but a leader in the non-toxic movement.
