In this episode of the Modern Direct Seller Podcast, we’re making the case for why every direct seller needs a home base of their own, and handing the mic to the people already proving it works. You’ll hear from seven women from our community across seven different companies who traded borrowed land and replicated sites for websites they actually own. From sticker parties and recipe libraries to lead-capturing landing pages, team-building funnels, sold-out retreats, and multi-stream brands, each one shares real numbers and real results. It’s a look at what becomes possible when you stop building on rented ground and start building somewhere that’s truly yours.

Want to peek at what these sellers have built? You can find Ashley Wasco at her sticker party page, Julie Gizzi at her recipe hub, Stephanie Pressley over at StephaniePressley.com, Amary Doremus at her permanent jewelry site (and be sure to check out her newly launched podcast), Jen Bach at Craft What Matters, Natasha Berkel at Natasha’s Healthy Living, and Evelyn Abernathy at Purple Essence by Evelyn

Why Every Direct Seller Needs a Home Base of Their Own

You’ve poured years into this business. The posts, the late-night replies, the relationships built one conversation at a time. Now imagine waking up to find the account holding all of it locked, with no way back in. That’s the quiet risk you take when your whole business lives on someone else’s platform, and it’s exactly why a home base of your own changes the game.

Building on Borrowed Land

When you build on social media, you’re building on borrowed land. Facebook has not been playing nice lately. Accounts are getting blocked, groups shut down, messaging frozen for months. Heck, one person even got locked out until 2027. You can’t make this stuff up.

And when it happens, you lose so much more than access. Your contacts, your content, every bit of the brand you built can vanish overnight.

Your own website is a different story. It’s land you actually own. You control it, you decide who sees it, and no algorithm gets to snatch it away.

That company replicated site? We say this with love, because we support corporate clients with theirs every day. But it looks just like everyone else’s, it’s probably not capturing a single lead for you, and when someone Googles your name, it’s not pointing them back to you.

A Home Base That Works While You Sleep

Once you’ve got a spot that’s truly yours, it works for you around the clock. Your website doesn’t close at 4pm when you head to the ball fields. It’s wide open at 2am when a tired mama is scrolling for exactly what you offer.

It becomes the hub for everything. No more sending people to a Facebook group here and a link in bio there. It all lives in one place that looks polished and feels like you.

And that builds trust. When someone sees your face, your favorites, and the products you stand behind, they feel like they know you already. And when you’re ready, your home base can follow up for you, with email and text marketing built right in.

You Are So Much More Than the Products You Sell

Take Ashley Wasco of Your Solution Space. She’ll be the first to tell you she’s not a party person, so she built something simpler. Using her Oh My Hi site, she spins up a fresh landing page for every sticker party and lets customers shop, ask questions, and invite friends with none of the usual pressure. One of those low-key parties recently brought in $770.

Julie Gizzi, a Pampered Chef consultant of nearly 30 years, had tens of thousands of followers but no visibility, because the algorithm kept burying the recipes she shared every day. So she built a home base and launched it alongside her 30-year anniversary giveaway. More than 600 people filled out her form, handing her a wave of fresh leads she now owns the connection to.

Stephanie Pressley felt scattered for years. She’s a photo solutions specialist with Forever, a life coach, a home educator, and more. She used to feel like she was throwing mud at a wall, hoping something stuck. Now she builds the wall instead. Since relaunching this spring, her traffic has climbed nearly 500%, and 90% of it comes from people typing her name straight into their browser.

Evelyn Abernathy runs almost her whole business online through her Purple Essence by Evelyn brand. She leads with education instead of a sales pitch, sending a blog post when someone has a question and inviting people into quizzes and guided experiences. It’s how she builds real relationships with people she may never meet in person.

Turning Your Home Base Into Real Growth

Amary Doremus helps women launch permanent jewelry businesses, and she funnels her TikTok leads straight to her site. With nearly 700 prospects and over 2,800 email contacts in one place, she’s welcomed more than 125 women to her team in a single year.

Jen Bach rebranded her 20-year Stampin’ Up! business to Craft What Matters and used her new site to bring back a retreat she hadn’t run in eight years. Within 24 hours she had 29 attendees and around $4,000 in sales. A week later she was past 50% capacity and over $5,000 in revenue from that one event.

Natasha Berkel shows what happens when you keep layering. A single YouTube video about her index card system sent thousands of people to a site that was already ready for them. More than 7,400 requested her freebie, her list grew from around 400 to over 4,700, and she’s since added a course, a printable line, and now a membership, all supporting her Jordan Essentials business too.

Your Turn to Build Something That Lasts

Seven women, seven companies, each using the same idea in the way that fits her business best. Whether you want an easy place for parties, a way to grow your team, or a home for the followers who keep missing your content, you can build one spot that brings everyone right back to you.
